Good writing is the best way to get more attention, get more customers, grow the business; show people why you are so good at what you do, and beat all the competition.
It’s a superpower.
But, There’s a problem.
Most writing is awful. It’s boring. Staggered. Sleep inducing.
And it doesn’t matter where you live because it’s not a local thing. Every country, every city is plagued by it.
Why? Well there’s multiple reasons. School has failed us. Writing isn’t speaking. Unhinged Generative AI is accessible to all. And most people haven’t picked up the skill to breathe life into the words they write!
Being practical, the ‘why’ doesn’t matter. What matters is ‘how’. Especially…
Fixing Bad Writing Once and For All.
In this series of articles, I’m going to give you tips and tricks on how to write articles, blog posts, tweets, video scripts, and much more. Best of all? We’re going to do it the non-boring way.
First and foremost, we aren’t going into the nitty gritty of ‘transitional words’ and ‘demonstrative pronouns’. We’ll leave that aside for the English teachers.
What we will focus on is writing words that sell.
Let’s get into it:
Making It Easy on Reader’s Eye.
The first step of getting someone to read is by seducing them.
Imagine this - you wrote the world’s best article or wrote the most convincing piece of writing.. And it wouldn’t even matter if they clicked off before you even got to the juicy part.
Look at a newspaper. Lots of lines formatted very close together. Dense. Loaded with Information. You will look at the page and your brain says: “pffffff, are we going to have to wade through all of that?”
Now look at this article you are reading.
Looks a lot more digestible compared to a newspaper, doesn’t it?
That’s because I’ve made it easy for you to get into. Short paragraphs. Easy to understand sentences. No heavy words or endless run-on sentences.
Short Form Versus Long Form Content.
So does that mean you have to make everything easy? Talk like you are talking with a 5 year old.
Nope.
But you do need to be mindful of how you format your stuff. Be it video scripts, articles or blog posts.
Any type of content you make should hook the audience and keep them interested.
That’s just the starting though. Much more is coming.
